Analyses in details the hourly load relocation and glycol temperature for three different configurations of an ice storage system with the commonlyused formulas for determining the chiller and icetank capacity. Points out that the chiller capacity and icetank size determined by the formulas can not satisfy the actual load requirement on many occasions. Concludes that series system with chiller upstream and icemelting priority is the most effective through a preliminary comparison of the control performances among several systems. Points out the problems deserving notice about the load proportioning in ice storage systems with a base chiller.
